Nominating Chair - Kathy Christiansen
Kathy has been a breast cancer survivor since 2003. After her two surgeries for cancer removal, Kathy experienced Lymphodema in her right hand and arm. At the same time, she needed therapy to loosen up her shoulder in order to get radiation therapy. After treatment, Kathy has made a determined effort to decrease the effects of her treatment through exercise. When Kathy heard that a group of breast cancer survivors were forming a team to do Dragon Boat Racing, she joined and has been paddling ever since. Kathy no longer has measurable Lymphodema and no longer wears the glove or sleeve to compress her arm. The support from the other team members and the encouragement has been inspirational and curative. Kathy is serving as the nominating chair for the second term. Kathy loves to paddle and is willing to sit anywhere in the boat or paddle on the left or right side.
